Bristol-Myers Squibb occupies a strong position in the UK pharmaceutical industry. A portfolio of established products, one of the most promising pipelines in the industry, and the people to make the most of both, all add up to the prospect of an exciting future. Recent years have been challenging, with exclusivity losses for some of our best-selling medicines, including Taxol® (paclitaxel) and Lipostat® (pravastatin). We now face no major patent losses until 2011.
The Company
But there is more to Bristol-Myers Squibb than the products we provide. We are committed to living by the highest standards of business practice, which is exemplified by how we treat our employees, deal with our suppliers and conduct ourselves with our customers. At Bristol-Myers Squibb, how we achieve our aims and ambitions is just as important as the results themselves.
Strong results in our latest employee survey confirm our position as an employer of choice. Eighty-four per cent of our employees tell us they are proud to say they work for Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Products
Plavix® (clopidogrel), developed and promoted in conjunction with sanofi-aventis, is now the UK’s 3rd best selling medicine, and Sustiva® (efavirenz) continue to drive our growth. They will be supplemented by a collection of exciting and innovative compounds over the next few years. We are committed to investing in our products and bringing them to patients.
Our product portfolio and pipeline is aligned to the needs of the NHS and the Government’s top three health priorities of cancer, cardiovascular disease and mental health. This synergy puts the company in a good position for future growth in the UK, as well as helping us to realise our mission of extending and enhancing more and more lives across the country.
