Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation:
Compassion in action
For more than 50 years, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation has been creating meaningful and sustainable improvements to the health and education of people around the world. The Foundation works in seven areas: global HIV and AIDS, health education, women’s health, science education, product donations, the Freedom to Discover™ unrestricted grants programme and employee contributions and community grants.
In 2004, we provided more than £300 million in free medicines to more than one million people. We also work with the United Nations and other agencies to increase access to HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment for some of the world’s poorest people. We help many developing countries by providing two HIV medicines at no profit.
In addition to our long-term programmes, we also provided more than £4.5 million in products and direct assistance to the 2004 tsunami relief effort in South Asia and over £550,000 in aid (plus free medicines and nutritional products) to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in America, 2005.
