Bristol-Myers Squibb is committed to leadership in ethical conduct, accountability and compliance activities.
We strongly believe doctors and patients should have all the information they need to help them make the best possible health care choices. To address this need for information, we must develop our medicines in the most transparent manner we can.
We have been praised for our open communications in regulatory submissions and are committed to providing even greater transparency, not only in our current filings, but also in our drug development process. We have adopted voluntary principles on the conduct of clinical trials and the communication of trial results that go above and beyond the industry’s recommendations.
Clinical trial registration
We are committed to the registration of clinical trials on public databases and it is now company policy to register all trials from Phase II onwards. We also disclose the results of all company-sponsored clinical trials and ensure we have released the results of completed trials for new medicines by the time of launch. Already we have posted numerous clinical trial results for studies completed before October 2002 on www.clinicalstudyresults.org and registered over 250 trials on www.clinicaltrials.gov.
These are just the first steps in a comprehensive effort to be more transparent about our clinical studies, and we continue to look for new and innovative ways to keep our patients and the public better informed.
